Artist Jabo Releases Latest Mixtape “B4 The Evolution"
Birmingham, AL (PRWEB) September 09, 2015 -- Today Coast 2 Coast Mixtapes announces the latest mixtape release by Jabo with his new project, "B4 The Evolution." The mixtape is currently available for streaming and download at the Coast 2 Coast Mixtapes website.
"B4 The Evolution" is a body of work that is the prequel to "The Evolution" LP, which will be dropping October 1st. It will feature production from Dwill, BeatsXkd, BeatChamp, BlackMetaphor, Travoski, and FlightBoi. It will also include features from Tabius Tate and Ink from Vintage Nation. This is definitely a great introduction to the Alabama Native, Jabo.

About JABO: When Alabama’s own Jabo walked the streets of his hometown Birmingham as a child, he had no idea his neighborhoods would nurture him into an upcoming rap phenomenon. The 28-year-old artist has endured plenty during his time on Earth, all of which has made him into the man he is today. As he releases his upcoming LP "The Evolution", Jabo will introduce you to the sum of his parts. Take note.
Jabo had an arguably atypical upbringing as a kid. Born on the West Side of Birmingham, the artist née Javan Micah Ishman attended a predominantly Black elementary school. His father was a part of a Gospel collective called God’s Children, so music filled his life early. Having a tech savvy father, Jabo was introduced to real studio equipment at a young age, falling in love with the art of making music. His mother fell ill with Lupus, so Jabo migrated to an all-white neighborhood for middle school, staying with a family friend. It was there that Jabo experienced his first real dose of racism in Alabama. “My first day of school I got called the N-word,” Jabo recalls. “So I had to beat the kid’s a**.” The transition was tough, but Jabo made it work, being a bright kid who was known as a “class disruption” for finishing his work so quickly and ending up bored. Jabo’s mom passed away when he was 13, so he moved in with his grandmother, attending high school in his old neighborhood. “It’s just like any other ghetto in America,” he says of his stomping grounds. “You have people selling drugs, people robbing people, people shooting people.” Jabo was heavy into sports in high school, playing baseball and basketball. “I stayed active to stay out of the streets.” Hip-Hop always fascinated him. “I just liked the way Rap sounded and how people put their words together,” he explains. “I felt like I could do it too.”
While working at a clothing store as a teen, Jabo learned about mixtape maestros like DJ Clue and was introduced to New York City Hip-Hop. Riding around in his Ford Focus (he had been driving since he was 14), Jabo would often bump NY Rap in his car – much to the chagrin of his friends. “I used to have people get out of the car,” he says. “Everybody wanted to get crunk, but I was listening to Nas and Dipset.” Jabo attended Alabama State University to major in Broadcasting, but was shot twice during an attempted robbery. Nothing was stolen from Jabo, except for the months of recovery. When he got back on his feet, his mission was to make music.
What happened next were a series of misfires, including losing all of his music during a friend’s studio robbery. Refusing to give up on his dream, Jabo purchased his own equipment and started his own studio. He dropped 2009’s Anatomy Of a Street Genius Vol. 1 mixtape complete with a DVD. He continued dropping mixtapes every six months, utilizing his University’s A/V equipment to incorporate visuals. The streets began to take notice, as Jabo’s lyricism and cadence bettered with every release. His Alabama Talking, hosted by DJ Green Lantern, and Alabama Talking 2, which was released earlier this year, mixtapes ultimately sealed his fate that he was a force to be reckoned with. Jabo was now geared for the release of the Anatomy of a Street Genius EP August 31, 2013 through his own label Complete Game Entertainment. His most recent mixtape "Alabama TalKING 3" hosted by DJ Scream and DJ Funky was released July 24, 2014 and is also available on iTunes.
JABO's torch single "What Im About" features legendary hip-hop heavyweights Jadakiss and Slim Thug. The single's music video appeared On BET's 106andPark and MTVJAMZ. Yo Gotti makes an appearance for the, trapped out club banger, "Drop". The home grown anthem "Double Salute" features Fallen Comrade and Alabama Legend, DoeB. and "Chunk A 4" ft. Houston’s own Slim Thug, who Jabo refers to as “the coolest rapper” he ever met. The EP will be backed by the beats of up and coming producer JP Did This 1! as Jabo crafts lyrics that speak to the streets but don’t encourage them to stay there. “I saw real gangsters when I was growing up. These days they’re wanna be gangsters,” Jabo says. “They go to college and do the right thing but when they get behind the microphone they say another thing. They’re influencing young people like that. I just feel like it’s imperative to let the youth know it’s ok to go school. It ain’t all about being a gangster, especially at 16. You shoot somebody in the face and you gone ‘til you 47.” Jabo Has recently been working with Verse Simmonds and has seen love on the Mediabase Urban Radio Charts with "What Im About" peaking at #30 in February 2014. In 2013 Jabo was featured in Hip Hop Weekly Magazine as a "Next To Blow" artist, he also was featured in XXL.com "The Break" section as a rising artist in 2013.
For 2015 JABO is gearing up for the release of his latest LP "The Evolution" which will feature the lead single "Sign U" featuring Stuey Rock. It also features appearances from 8Ball and MJG, Carl Thomas, Jay Nicole and Ink from Vintage Nation.
Incorporating a positive message with a hustle mentality, Jabo is what the streets need. While he continues to make Birmingham proud, he still wows people with his triumph over tragedy. “I could’ve just conformed to the streets,” Jabo says, “but I didn’t.
