Johnson City Folk Festival Adds "Story Tellers' Stage" for 2014; Secures Spook House Saints, Cowboy Slim, Emma Nelson and The Judy Chops For 2014 Showcase
Unicoi, Tennessee (PRWEB) April 22, 2014 -- The Johnson City Folk Festival in Unicoi, TN is gearing up for a stellar summer 2014 Festival.
Last year the weather was uncooperative: it was very cold, crisp and clear and this year The Festival has moved to September 25, 26, 27 and 28 to keep it warm, green and perfect for the outdoor camping and additional activities being planned for Festival goers.
They are charging ahead with a great line-up and a new online ticketing solution... and a new stage directed to Storytelling. The "Storytelling" Component was added at the request of many patrons and sponsors, and participation is open to all local and regional storytellers. The Story Teller's Stage will be far up the Great Meadow, away from the music stages and in a natural amphitheatre; all local and regional story tellers are welcome to participate and keep an eye on the main website for details. This will be the first year this exciting addition has appeared on the schedule.
Exciting regional and national musical acts continue to be added - as of this writing, The Spookhouse Saints, Pierce Edens and The Judy Chops are topping the bills on the bigger stages. Wonderful and exciting acts will abound n the smaller, more intimate stages which will feature Emma Nelson, The Empty Bottle String Band, Lou Shields and Tim Avram.
This Folk Festival is unique in its small management staff and its organic approach - performers can apply very close to the Festival date, and if last year was any gauge, no good act is turned away.
The Festival is located in Unicoi, Tennessee on the grounds of The Farmhouse Gallery and Gardens; The Festival was originally located in Johnson City, but relocated to Unicoi because of the remarkable features of The Farmhouse Gardens and the flexibility of the local officials. The ease of permitting and quality of local services also made a significant difference in selecting Unicoi.
The Cherokee National Forest surrounds the Festival grounds - the deer eat out of folks hands and there are many wild Peacocks and all manner of forest creatures... it is a remarkable, unique environment.
