HOUSTON, Sept. 24, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On October 26th, Color Factory Houston will open its doors to the public.
You can buy tickets starting today at: http://colorfactory.co/
Located in the Upper Kirby neighborhood, each participatory installation features colors collected from around Houston, including "NASA Blue", yellow from the stadium chairs in the Astrodome, brown from the Buffalo Bayou, and pink from the frosting of a Shipley's Donut. Throughout, there will also be tasty provisions from Color Factory partner My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream, as well as other local companies.
Encompassing over 20,000 total square feet, each room in Color Factory is an experiential, interactive installation that invites people to engage their natural curiosity and gives them permission to be joyful, playful, and uninhibited. Every hue is hand-selected and paired with a sensory activity to unleash the full impact of color.
Color Factory Houston's installations include:
Thought Bubbles: A fully black and white space except for colorful floating orbs, artists and inventors Harvey & John developed the technology for this installation using the Bernoulli Principle, which states that spheres will float on columns of high flow, low-pressure air.
Complementary Compliments: A fan favorite from the New York Color Factory, Complementary Compliments has been revamped for Houston. 20 stalls will be featured in a fully striped room, inviting guests to make a human connection with someone through an audio guide of creative activities.
Chromaroma: Find a color, read the clue, take a sniff, and guess the scent! Color Factory worked with Art & Olfaction, a nonprofit organization devoted to access, education, and experimentation with scent, to develop 15 colorful smells that will take you down memory lane.
Color Me _______: (By Andrew Neyer and Andy J. Pizza) These two illustrators collaborated on large-scale black and white murals, leaving the coloring up to you. They've created a special installation for Color Factory inspired by all things blue! It's more fun than you can imagine with their giant five-foot-long markers.
At the entry, visitors are invited to register for a card with a special barcode which can be scanned at custom photo booth stations set up throughout the exhibition. Images will automatically be emailed to users.
