A special event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Philadelphia Korean American Association and the Korean Consular Office Opening in Philadelphia
NEW YORK, April 26, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- "Korea in Philly" which is being held the Montgomery County Community College Health Sciences Building on April 30, 2022 is bringing Korean culture to Greater Philadelphia.
Rescheduled from last year due to Covid-19, the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in New York partnered with the Korean American Association of Greater Philadelphia (KAAGP) to co-host "Korea in Philly." The all-day event celebrates the 50 years of KAAGP history and the opening of the Korean Consular Office in Philadelphia
At the event, visitors can enjoy various indoor cultural performances and participate in outdoor activities. Korea in Philly's main event consists of Taekwondo performances, a Hanbok fashion show that includes a mock traditional Korean wedding ceremony, and Korean traditional dance performances. Other exciting programs include the Unity 5k walk/run, Korean culture booths, and many performances in the Atrium, including K-pop dances. Admissions are free of charge for the main event.

"As Korea and the United States celebrate their 140th year of diplomatic ties this year, I wish that this meaningful opportunity will inspire many Americans to learn more about Korea and its rich culture."
KAAGP also released an official statement. "Our vision is to strengthen our community relationships moving forward to the future. This event will impact the 80,000 Korean American community members living in the Greater Philadelphia area and reintroduce Korean culture to the American public."
Overall, engagements from the Korean-American community in the event have been active and prolific. Over 40 Korean-American organizations, notably the Korean School Association, Korean Beauty Supply Association, Korean Athletic Association, and Korean Dry Cleaners Association, have participated.
The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in New York opened its Consular Office in Philadelphia on April 30, 2021. The office is Korea's fifteenth diplomatic mission to open in the US and reflects the growing importance of the Greater Philadelphia region for the Korean government and the deepening close reciprocal partnership between the two nations.
