In early June a few selected US media representatives will explore two of the most beautiful and enchanting agricultural jewels of Europe
NEW YORK, June 7, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- "The Charming Taste of Europe" is pleased to announce that it will host an exclusive press trip to discover the delicious kiwis from Kavala and cherries from Rachi Pieria in Greece in early June.
When it comes to cherries throughout Greece, they are ranked 10th in the world for production, with most of the production coming out of Northern Greece. In particular the regions of Pella, Imathia and Pieria are the most important fruit-producing regions in the country. Founded in 1978, The Agricultural Cooperative of Rachi Pierias, "AGIOS LOUKAS" now has 250 members and its cherry grove has expanded to 200 hectares. Throughout the visit, participants will speak with the producing organization "O AGIOS LOUKAS" about the cherries, the production method, the market and will also have the opportunity to visit the cherry fields.
The kiwi, originally from China, arrived in Europe during the 19th century and cultivated itself in Greece in the early 1980s. Over the past twenty years the kiwi has grown exponentially and has in fact become a national product, specifically in Kavala, positioned on the coast of Northern Greece. Here the production of the Kiwi fruit is approximately 50,000 tons, 10,000 of which are produced by KAVALA COOP. Throughout the trip, participants will visit "Kavala COOP" Cooperative where they will speak with the producing organization, see the kiwi fields and facilities as well as speak about the product. Following, participants will be able to explore the city of Kavala as a whole.
