Liberty IT Solutions, LLC has been awarded a 5 year, $10.8MM task order by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to sustain and modernize the Genomic Information System for Integrated Science 2.0 (GenISIS-2), a central infrastructure for providing genomic data management and analysis for research operations.
HERNDON, Va., Sept. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Liberty IT Solutions, LLC has been awarded a task order by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to sustain and modernize the Genomic Information System for Integrated Science 2.0 (GenISIS-2), a central infrastructure for providing genomic data management and analysis for research operations. This 5-year (12-month base and four 12-month option periods) task order potentially amounts to $10.8 million, inclusive of options.
Liberty will provide continued sustainment for GenISIS-2, a key component of the VA's Million Veteran Program (MVP), a groundbreaking program which invites users of the VA healthcare system nationwide to participate in a longitudinal study with the aim of better understanding the interrelation of genetic characteristics, behaviors and environmental factors, and Veteran's health.
Liberty will be joined by two partners, Initiate Government Solutions (IGS) and ManTech, on key tasks including the development of new functional interoperability between GenISIS-2, the Veterans Informatic and Computing Infrastructure (VINCI), and other GenISIS systems. IGS has been supporting VINCI since its inception. In addition, Liberty will also work to establish a separate Authority to Operate (ATO) for GenISIS-2. Previously included with the Region 2 ATO, VA now looks for the GenISIS-2 system to establish its own, a task Liberty understands is of supreme importance. Liberty will work to obtain the necessary artifacts to receive the ATO approval while keeping data secure and maintaining VA's Security Standards.
"Liberty IT Solutions is proud to be joining forces with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) once again on the GenISIS-2 Task Order," said Bill Greene, Liberty CEO. "With the assistance of Initiate Government Solutions and ManTech, Liberty will lead the sustainment of the GenISIS-2 Task Order while simultaneously establishing its own Authority to Operate (ATO), a large undertaking that Liberty is excited to take on."
This task order follows a set of recent wins for Liberty IT, including Enrollment Health Benefits Determination System Modernization task, a Health Registries sustainment task, and most recently the VA Virtual Campus task award, making Liberty one of the top Federal Health Consulting firms of 2018.
Since its founding in 2013, Liberty IT has been dedicated to the advancement of Federal Healthcare IT tasks and continues to prove this through continuous contract deliveries. Liberty is pleased to partner with VA to further sustain the GenISIS-2 infrastructure.
