10th Annual Run! Geek! Run! 5K Date Announced for September 24th
Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) June 06, 2017 -- Ironistic, a premier website development and online marketing company, and Hudson Studio, a visual communications firm providing graphic design services, announce the 10th Annual Run! Geek! Run! The 5K road race will be held at 8:30 a.m. on September 24, 2017, in the Potomac Yard area of Alexandria, Virginia.
All proceeds from Run! Geek! Run! will directly support the Alexandria Firefighters Helping Hands Relief Foundation. The Helping Hands Relief Foundation was developed to assist the members of the Alexandria Firefighters in the event of an unforeseen catastrophic event. Their mission is to provide timely financial assistance to the members and their immediate families who incur a qualifying undue hardship.
Ironistic and Hudson Studio firmly believe in small businesses supporting their local community. With participation from runners and sponsors, who have roots in the Northern Virginia and the DC area, Run! Geek! Run! will raise money to support local firefighters who require aid often not available through insurance or assistance programs.
Participants in the 2017 Run! Geek! Run! 5K will receive a t-shirt and souvenir “geek” glasses. Bobblehead trophies will be given to the top three overall male and female finishers; top three Masters male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in 13 different age groups. The top three corporate and community teams will also receive awards. Race registration is $30 until August 18, $35 until online registration closes on September 20, and $40 at packet pickup and on race day.
Sponsorships for this event provide companies and organizations the opportunity to give back to the local community, as well as gain visibility. About Alexandria Firefighters Helping Hands Relief Foundation
The Helping Hands Relief Foundation (afdlocal2141.org) was established in 1999, when a fellow coworker was faced with a debilitating medical crisis. Fellow firefighters and paramedics donated time and money; they provided everything from food, lodging, clothing, and transportation for the coworker and their family. It was during this experience that the members realized the need for a fund to support similar future situations.
