SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 25, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- AngelHack's annual Global Demo Day and Startup Bash takes place November 1, 2018 in San Francisco, CA, bringing to the stage 19 innovative early-stage startups from around the globe ready to pitch to the Bay Area's investor and startup community. The startups were sourced from AngelHack's Global Hackathon Series and underwent the HACKcelerator program, preparing them to pitch to judges including Wissam Otaky, Partner at Hatcher+, Wayne Sutton, Director of Program Development at Backstage Capital and more. Tickets are now available at globaldemoday.io.
Notable startups set to pitch in San Francisco include Dime, a young team from Los Angeles that have built a digital sports league where basketball players, as registered blockchain tokens, can be traded and earn the player ETH prizes. Foundation, from Shenzhen, is a modern power distribution and management system that provides an infrastructure for the development of power grids, creating Smart Villages. From Dublin comes Cropsafe, another team of young founders who are utilizing satellite imagery to detect and predict potential issues for crop farmers. Notably 38% of the founders in the cohort are female.
"Each year we find our cohort to be right on the pulse of the latest and exciting tech trends, with startups from all corners of the globe that are working on fascinating projects using emerging tech like Blockchain and Machine Learning," said Adi Abili, Managing Director of the HACKcelerator. "We have some ideas that have surprised us from industries that we haven't had the chance before to work in before, such as animal health, or space tech."
AngelHack's HACKcelerator program has a portfolio valuation of $75 million and 5 exits, with 181 startups, including last year's winner, Goin, one of the top fintech apps in Spain, and Wrappup from Dubai, which was acquired just last year, and is now known as Voicera. 52% of all active companies go on to raise funding, while 31% get accepted into a later stage accelerator such as AngelPad, YCombinator, or Techstars.
