"My husband and I as well as our dog, Colby are huge fans of both Mentos Ice Cream and the Carisbrooke Café. Colby's favorite flavor is vanilla soft serve! Sunday morning is reserved for a Carisbrooke Café breakfast. Everything on the menu from Agnes' homemade scones and muffins to the Western Omelets are delicious!
We are eagerly awaiting the grand opening at their new location in North Beach!! says Brenda Dowd, owner, Makt Arts Studio and Gift Shop.
Italian Hospitality entrepreneur, John Battista opened his historical landmark luxury bed and breakfast, Carisbrooke Inn in 2003, which has expanded to 18-rooms. "Hospitality is very engrained in the Italian culture and is in our blood," says Battista whose family was originally from Bari, Italy. His business partner, Agnes Debicz is originally from Poland and has perfected her home-baked scones, cinnamon buns, pies and more.
"I have enjoyed Mento's ice cream and Carisbrooke Cafe for many years. The water ices are the best because of the many natural flavors tangerine, lemon, chocolate, but black cherry with real cherries is my favorite. The creative culinary flair is not only delicious tasty and original but a mandatory destination at the beach. Taste is primary but how you are treated is what makes you want to go there. Even your dogs will love going!", says frequent patron Sandy Reiss.
