Milestone Set at a "Packing Party" Hosted by Fresh Wolf and Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Personality Lisa Barlow
ROCKVILLE, Md., Jan. 9, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On its 10th anniversary year of providing hope and dignity to youth in foster care, international non-profit Comfort Cases proudly announces that the 200,000th "Comfort Case®" was packed and distributed to a youth in foster care at a "packing party" on Saturday, January 7, 2023. The packing party took place in Salt Lake City and was hosted by John and Jack Barlow, the founders of Fresh Wolf men's grooming products and Lisa Barlow, a cast-member of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City (RHSLC).
"We are so appreciative of our friends the Barlows for hosting this milestone event for us," states Rob Scheer, founder of Comfort Cases. "We started our organization to stop the practice of children being given a trash bag to carry their belongings in, which to this day remains standard practice. The fact that we've helped 200,000 youth over the past 10 years makes my heart sing – entering foster care is often a traumatic experience, and of no fault of the child, so the fact we can make the process just a bit easier and for the child will continue to be our mission."
Saturday's packing party took place at Tree House Athletic Club in Draper, a suburb of Salt Lake City. More than 30 volunteers, including local youth from Corner Canyon High School in Draper, packed 300 Comfort XL duffle bags and comfort cases® - backpacks filled with age-appropriate items including a new set of pajamas, a blanket, a hygiene kit (toothbrush, toothpaste, individual soap and shampoo and if appropriate female hygiene products), a "stuffy" and a book or journal.
RHSLC's Lisa Barlow, co-host of the packing party stated that "I am lucky enough to call Rob Scheer my friend and have personally witnessed how this 'good human' puts his absolute everything into helping youth in foster care." She continued, "it is all of our responsibility to look out for and support our children – thank you Rob and the team at Comfort Cases for all you are doing nationally and for the youth in foster care in Salt Lake City.
The comfort cases® were distributed to local foster care organization, Brighter Futures.
