The bins are clean, bright white, and say, ‘Join the Reuse Movement’ so you cannot miss them!
Montgomery County, MD (PRWEB) September 12, 2013
Community Recycling, a for-profit recycler of clothing with a focus on reuse, is giving a big thumbs up to Montgomery County, Maryland (1 million strong) residents for their commitment to recycle clothing. Residents throughout the region are encouraged to think about all of the extra clothing, linens, shoes and accessories such as belts and purses that they have around the house and find the most convenient way to recycle for them.
Back in April of this year, Community Recycling won the bid for the county and placed containers, which are served multiple times a week at the Shady Grove Transfer Station in Derwood, Maryland. The goal is to far surpass the 109 tons of textiles captured at the transfer station alone the previous year. In less than five months, they have already captured over 120,000 pounds of reusable and re-wearable clothing and related materials.
In August, Community Recycling partnered with Mid-Atlantic Petroleum Properties, LLC. to place clothing recycling bins at twenty of their retail service stations that are located throughout the county. Community Recycling bins can be found at many Sunoco and W Express stations. The bins are easy to locate as they are clean, bright white, beautifully maintained and say, ‘Join the Reuse Movement.'
Community Recycling has been working tirelessly to promote REUSE and create a movement of People Recycling for People. They have even come up with CR Home, an at-home solution where anyone can box all of their gently used jeans, shoes, towels, purses and belts, etc. and ship them for free to Community Recycling.
“Innovation leads us to always look for ways to customize solutions for every type of community in order to capture this much needed material,” said Ira Baseman, President of Community Recycling. “Whether clothing containers are at transfer stations, bins are located at the places people go throughout the community, or the convenience and ease of mailing it directly from your home, Community Recycling is happy to connect communities via the act of clothing recycling.”
“Less clothing in the trash translates to meaningful savings on trash disposal for communities, said Lisa Pomerantz, VP of Marketing and Business Development. “Take it a step further and see the importance of reuse on the global population, jobs creation, resources saved and it's have win-win-win!”
