Recorded Books, VPD Offer Libraries Games for International Games Day
Prince Frederick, MD (PRWEB) October 16, 2013 -- As libraries prepare for International Games Day on November 16, 2013, Recorded Books, in partnership with Video Products Distributors (VPD), offer libraries a host of video games and movies.
More than one thousand libraries around the world are expected to participate in International Games Day, which includes both a national video game tournament and the Global Gossip Game.
For the video game tournament, libraries can organize local tournaments during which players compete against players at other libraries for national bragging rights. The Global Gossip Game, based on the familiar game of whispering secrets, expands the game to have messages traveling from library to library around the world.
“International Games Day with games and movies from VPD is a great opportunity for families to get out of the house and have fun in the library and interact with other members of the community,” said Rich Freese, president and CEO of Recorded Books.
VPD, one of the largest suppliers of DVDs and video games, brings libraries new releases in today’s most popular video and gaming formats. The partnership with Recorded Books, a long-time supplier of library services, has enabled VPD to place its popular products in the library market.
“In the 21st century, libraries are about much more than books,” said Rich Freese. “We strive to meet the needs of our library customers in technology’s ever-changing environment by offering high-quality products like VPD.”
VPD delivers feature films, children’s favorites, popular television programs and classic movies on DVD and Blu-ray from all major studios, including 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros., Paramount, and Universal.
VPD also has a game and movie website that allows libraries to search and select titles, track shipments, download promotional materials and manage budgets. The service’s selection of video games and video game systems includes Nintendo Wii, WiiU and NDS, Xbox 360 and xBox One, and PlayStation 3 and 4.
