MediGap Advisors Announces October 14 Health Care Reform Webinar
Fort Collins, CO (PRWEB) October 11, 2013 -- MediGap Advisors will conduct a comprehensive webinar on October 14, 2013, to inform Medicare recipients of recent changes brought on by health care reform and how their Medicare coverage might be affected.
Medicare expert and webinar host Fred Adams will answer questions and present news and strategies for those 65 and older. “We believe that knowledge is power when it comes to health care reform,” explains Adams. “There are changes taking place in the health care industry right now that Medicare members should know about.”
Adams will be addressing such issues as the projected $135 billion the Obama administration is cutting from Medicare Advantage through 2019 to put towards the cost of health care reform for those under 65. The webinar will also focus on the $7 billion in cuts in reimbursements to health insurance carriers offering Medicare Advantage benefits in 2014.
“Future doctor shortages are a real concern for seniors,” says Adams. The webinar will answer questions and concerns about the numbers of physicians leaving the program due to lack of reimbursements.
Adams’ webinar will explain the predicted elimination of “donut holes” in prescription drug coverage - a plus of health care reform. Some negatives about the effect of Obamacare will also be addressed (i.e., possible loss of 100% coverage of Medigap plans and the unavailability of Plan F gap coverage).
The October 14 webinar will also examine the creation of accountable care organizations and independent advisory boards and explain their impact on Medicare, and will address concerns about reductions in prescription drug benefits as well.
“We welcome all individuals and family members who are concerned about the future of Medicare and Medigap insurance coverage to join us on October 14,” Adams says. “We believe in making health care choices as simple and easy to understand as possible amidst all the changes going on in health care reform today.”
Adams explains, “When Medicare began in 1965, it was not intended to provide for all of seniors’ health care needs. Many folks underestimate how much health care will cost them during retirement, so we’re going to talk about things that might affect those costs like the exponentially increasing cost of U.S. health care and the uncertain effects of health care reform.”
