Grand Opening of Kissimmee Dog Park Set for Nov. 2
Kissimmee, FL (PRWEB) October 17, 2013 -- The dog days of summer may have come to an end, but the four-legged creatures still have a reason to celebrate with the grand opening of KUA Cumbie Canine Court on Saturday, Nov. 2.
Hosted by Kissimmee Utility Authority and the City of Kissimmee, the public event will feature free hot dogs, chips and drinks, pet photo booth, canine demonstration by the Kissimmee Police Department, dog obedience demonstrations, bounce houses for the kids, an assortment of pet-friendly vendors, giveaways and special treats for the dogs.
KUA Cumbie Canine Court is a fun outdoor space for dogs to run and play while pet owners mingle with one another. Situated on an island inside of Kissimmee’s Mill Slough Park, the 6.3-acre lush grounds feature a canopy of mature oak trees surrounded by a meandering stream.
The space, which is wheelchair accessible, also features parking, a concrete path, separate fenced areas for large and small dogs, benches, picnic tables, drinking fountains with attached pet fountains, trash receptacles and waste receptacles with bag dispensers. The park is the first and only dog park in Osceola County to feature an agility course to enhance pet obedience skills while building confidence.
The park honors outgoing KUA chairman Fred Cumbie who retired from the utility’s board of directors on Sept. 30 after a decade of volunteer service. A canine lover himself, Cumbie long advocated for additional play spaces for dogs in the community.
The grand opening event will be held from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Nov. 2. Because of limited parking, those attending should park at Mill Run Park, located at 1451 Mill Slough Rd., and walk to the adjacent dog park.
