As Wilder matures from a cub to a wolf, he encounters a bear, a dragon and a devious snake and must look into his heart to discover the truth. He and his brothers have some allies for the journey: two flower fairies and their pet, as well as some friends they make along the way. They also receive guidance from the ghosts of their parents and an ancient ballad. This is the first novel for author Katie Cruickshank, who is 13 years old. The book began as a short story in a notebook at a young friend’s birthday party. Cruickshank lives with her parents, four older brothers and dog Dakota.
