Las Vegas Quintuplets Leave Hospital; Settle in at Home
Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) November 07, 2013 -- November 6 marked the end of one journey and the beginning of another as the final Derrico (duh-ree-koh) quintuplet left the Summerlin Hospital and the entire family of 11 is under one roof as the holiday season begins.
“They were a blessing from God and we are thrilled everyone is together at last,” said Deon Derrico, the father of the group he calls the Divine Nine.
His wife, Evonne, gave birth to quintuplets on September 6, 2013, in Arizona. On September 20, the infants were airlifted to Summerlin Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) to receive the remainder of their care. The quints arrived in three separate flights: two babies with their father; two more with their paternal grandmother; and the youngest quintuplet with her mother. The five were settled into their own wing of the NICU.
The Las Vegas couple already had four children when they learned they were expecting quintuplets. A rundown of the Derrico family includes:daughter Darian, age 7; son Derrick, age 3; twin sons Denver and Dallas, 2; and quintuplets (in birth order) son Deniko, son Dariz, daughter Deonee, daughter Daician, and daughter Daitin.
Three babies were home by October 12, in time for appearances on both The Today Show and The View. A fourth baby arrived home on October 29 followed by the youngest daughter on November 6, 2013.
The Derrico family wishes to extend a special thank you to the following individuals and groups:
Pastor Dr. Robert E. Fowler of Victory Missionary Baptist Church, which is the Derrico’s church home. Insurance provider Aetna for flying the entire family back home via private jet to Las Vegas.
Erica D. Loyd, Esq. of Kang and Associates, for the free legal services extended to the family.
Pampers for providing free diapers for one year.
The Steve Harvey Show for donating five baby swings to the family.
The Elks Lodge for hosting “one of the biggest baby showers ever.”
General Motors for working out the details to donate a 2014 Suburban to the Derrico family (Deon is a native of Detroit).
And a final thank you to “all the well-wishers and wonderful people near and far for their blessings to our family with much-appreciated prayers or a gift,” said Derrico.
