Using snapshots of various spaces within their household, the entire video has a sense of authentication, and serves as a magical gift for children on Christmas morning.
Envisioned by Russell Pierce prior to Christmas 2013, the “Santa Visits Our House - 2013” app is one-of-a-kind. After purchasing a new tablet for his wife and searching for apps to install on her behalf, Pierce later dreamed of an app with which users could create a personal video of Santa visiting and leaving gifts. Still consumed by the dream days after Christmas had passed, Pierce began browsing the internet for an app like this, but couldn’t find anything. As such, Pierce and his wife, Katherine then made the decision to pursue the idea, pairing up with a team of mobile app developers at WaveSpawn to make the dream a reality.
After downloading the app to a mobile device, users will simply need to follow the guidelines to create the video. Subsequently, they will be asked to take one picture of the outside of their home, one picture of the room where the Christmas tree stands with gifts already under it, and one last picture of the room where Santa’s milk and cookies rest. Then they will be asked to enter the names of the children receiving the gifts as a means of personalizing the letter from Santa.
Once each step has been completed, the video will begin with a jolly Santa Claus flying across the sky with his reindeer, then landing on the roof of the user’s home. Once inside, Santa will be shown placing gifs under the tree and writing the letter to the children before walking over to the plate of cookies and taking a bite. After a final farewell, Santa disappears back into his slay and heads into the night.
The user will then have the option to send Santa’s letter to a printer so that a physical copy can be placed under the tree for children to enjoy on Christmas morning. After showing them the video of Santa’s visit, use the email option to send a copy of the video to family and friends and save it for the many years to come.
The “Santa Visits Our House - 2013” app was made available to Android users on Nov. 7, 2013 and will be accessible on Nov. 15, 2013 for Apple Devices. Though the regular price of the app will be set at $1.99, it will be on sale for Android users for $1.49 until Friday, Nov. 15, 2013.
