Blue Jay Wireless Expands Outreach Working With The Samaritan Inn to Provide Employment to Homeless
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) November 14, 2013 -- Blue Jay Wireless continues to expand its outreach to low-income residents of Texas by working with The Samaritan Inn to provide employment opportunities to qualified residents of the homeless program.
Established in 1984, The Samaritan Inn is based in McKinney Texas and is the largest homeless program serving the Collin County region of Texas. The Samaritan Inn is a comprehensive homeless program dedicated to assisting individuals and families regain their dignity and independence. In addition to shelter, meals, clothing, and medical assistance the Inn also employs a staff of experienced case workers that assess the needs of each resident and develop an individual program plan that may include classes in a variety of life skills such as parenting, budgeting, and job training with the goal of regaining their independence.
“The Samaritan Inn is truly a great and reputable organization with an impressive track record over the last 25 years,” states David Wareikis, Blue Jay President and CEO. “We share a common mission of assisting those in need and Blue Jay Wireless is extremely honored to be able to work with the Inn by providing employment opportunities to their residents as we grow our business. We are so proud of our staff that have graduated from The Samaritan Inn”.
Blue Jay Wireless strongly believes in the mission of the Federal Lifeline program, and as such, remains focused and committed to distributing cellphones and service to qualified consumers for the program across the country. Blue Jay Wireless continues to expand its outreach and regularly employs residents of the Samaritan Inn over the last several months which have resulted in several confirmed graduations from the program as each one has regained financial independence.
Executive Director of the Samaritan Inn, Lynne Sipiora, states “I have been kept informed of the residents you have been hiring and I am thrilled! Employment is the very first step in moving out of homelessness, unfortunately many employers are not willing to take a chance on our people, but Blue Jay Wireless is and as a result you are changing lives daily, thank you!”
Created in 1985 under the Reagan administration, the Lifeline Program was designed to ensure all low-income Americans have phone access to connect to jobs, family and emergency services. In 2005, as the proliferation of cellphones had increasingly replaced landlines, the Lifeline Program was expanded to include wireless service in addition to traditional landline service.
Available in every state, territory, commonwealth, and on Tribal lands, the Lifeline program is available to eligible low-income consumers, and allows for only one Lifeline phone per household. Eligibility criteria may vary by state.
