The Urgency Network Launches into Space with Global “Ticket to Rise” Campaign for #GivingTuesday
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 18, 2013 -- The Urgency Network, an engagement platform that rewards users with larger than life opportunities for contributing to social causes, pledged today its support for #GivingTuesday™’s annual national day of giving with its global “Ticket to Rise” campaign, which will launch supporters into an out of this world experience – literally. Partnered with a leading commercial spaceline, The Urgency Network will offer each winner, selected at random, a spot as a founding astronaut on a spacecraft into orbit for every $1million raised in collective support of a wide variety of non-profits and social causes. Specific details of the “Ticket to Rise” campaign contest will be revealed online on #GivingTuesday, December 3, 2013, at http://www.urgencynetwork.com/tickettorise and will run for three months.
“Space tourism is a rapidly growing fascination and trend, but unfortunately limited to the most elite and those wealthy enough to afford the incredibly expensive experience – until now. As a reward for supporting social causes either through donations or numerous free actions to increase awareness, Urgency participants have a real opportunity within their reach to win this once in a lifetime experience simply for giving a few bucks,” said Urgency Network Co-Founder Brandon Deroche.
Following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off a holiday season when people are inspired to give thanks and give back to charities and causes dear to their hearts. Dedicated to connecting non-profits, celebrities, brands and fans in a single community to mass-educate about the world's biggest issues and create positive impact on a global scale, #GivingTuesday was the perfect fit for The Urgency Network to launch its “Ticket to Rise” campaign.
“We share #GivingTuesday’s vision of encouraging charitable activities and supporting non-profit organizations. We want people to know that they have a voice and one person, one action can make a huge difference,” said Urgency Network Co-Founder Donald Eley.
“This year we are seeing so many dynamic campaigns coming together to form one community. There is so much energy and entrepreneurialism throughout the #GivingTuesday movement," said Henry Timms, #GivingTuesday founder and interim executive director of 92nd Street Y. “It has been humbling to see an idea that took root in one of 92Y’s core values – repairing the world – resonate with people, organizations, and business entities around the world who have taken it upon themselves to create new and innovative ways to inspire and facilitate giving.”
In the short time since its debut in July, The Urgency Network has catapulted onto the social giving scene with influential partners such as Paul McCartney, Sir Richard Branson, Linkin Park and Thom Yorke working alongside non-profits including Greenpeace, Carbon War Room, Music for Relief and the Make Yourself Foundation, an organization started by the band Incubus, who recently won The Urgency Network’s $1Million Media Grant Jackpot donated by Pvblic Foundation.
Current Urgency Network campaigns and grand prizes include David Lynch Foundation’s “Change Begins Within” featuring flyaway experiences with Hugh Jackman, Russell Brand, Jerry Seinfeld, Russell Simmons and many others; spiritual leader Ram Dass and “Be Here Now” with an exclusive trip to Maui with lodging at Ram Dass’ private guest house, New Year’s Run of 5 concerts in Atlanta with popular band STS9 and Greenpeace’s “Save the Artic” campaign featuring a concert with Portgual. The Man, which comes at a crucial time as 30 Greenpeace environmental activists, penned as the “Arctic 30” were arrested and are still held captive by Russian authorities on September 18th after an attempt to protest at on an oil rig operated by the Russian energy giant Gazprom.
