Henley-Putnam University Welcomes New Associate Dean of Counterterrorism and Terrorism Studies Program
Santa Clara, CA (PRWEB) November 16, 2013 -- Henley-Putnam University is proud to announce Diane Maye will join the University community as Associate Dean of Counterterrorism and Terrorism Studies.
Ms. Maye earned her Master of Arts degree in Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2006 and her Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the United States Air Force Academy in 2001. She is currently a doctoral student in Political Science at George Mason University, and her major research interests include: security issues in the Middle East, U.S. foreign policy, and state-level counterterrorism initiatives.
From 2001 – 2007, Diane served in the U.S. Air Force, where she had assignments in Washington D.C., Maryland, California, and South Korea. Upon leaving the Air Force, Diane worked for an international defense company where she managed projects in foreign military sales, proposal development, and the execution of large international communications and physical security programs for military customers. Diane has also done freelance business consulting for European, South American, and Middle Eastern clients interested in security systems, commodity exchanges, integrated communications, and defense procurement.
During the Iraq war, Diane worked for Multi-National Force-Iraq in Baghdad, managing over 400 bilingual, bicultural advisors for the U.S. State Department’s Provincial Reconstruction Teams and the U.S. Department of Defense. Diane has also worked for the Public and International Affairs Department at George Mason University. She has experience in teaching undergraduate level courses in International Relations, American Foreign Policy, Comparative Politics, and Global Political Islam.
“Diane has a unique combination of experiences that make her exactly the right leader for this exciting, well-established program. Henley-Putnam has long been one of the few schools to offer a full degree in counterterrorism, and Diane’s career and expertise in the analytical, operations, contracting, international relations, diplomacy, and foreign policy sides of counterterrorism position her to lead it with both professional credibility and strong academic foundations,” said Amanda Morrow-Jensen, Director of Outreach and Business Development for Henley-Putnam University. “Diane’s impressive resume embodies the evolutions that counterterrorism as a field has experienced in the past decade. I cannot imagine anyone better suited to guide this program in an academic setting.”
As the Associate Dean of Henley-Putnam University’s Counterterrorism and Terrorism Studies Programs, Diane will design and implement new programs and policies pertaining to Counterterrorism, oversee course curriculum growth, and ensure students focusing on Counterterrorism and Terrorism Studies are fully prepared to apply their education to the real world.
