With over 90 percent of children’s books sold in China imported, it was a critical event for us to display our books and connect with China’s leading publishers.

Publish on Demand Global (PODG) attended the much-anticipated Shanghai International Children’s Copyright Book Fair (CCBF) from November 7 through November 9, 2013.

Backed by China’s official publishing authorities, CCBF provided direct access to professionals at every level of the trade. Organizers of the book fair anticipated over 200 exhibitors, 4,000 trade visitors and 18,000 public attendees. While at the three-day event, PODG furthered its mission to bring more English literature to the Chinese market.

“We’re thrilled to have been part of the only GAPP-approved event dedicated to copyright trading, publishing, printing and distribution of content for books aimed at infants to 16-year-olds,” said Robert Fletcher, CEO of PODG. “With over 90 percent of children’s books sold in China imported, it was a critical event for us to display our books and connect with China’s leading publishers,” Fletcher continued.

Known as the “Publisher’s Publisher,” PODG experienced early success on the first day of the fair as Donna Brooks made a rights deal with Malaysian publishers.

JD.com, widely considered the Amazon equivalent in China, is one of the leading online distributors of American literature in China. PODG currently has over 500 authors selling ebooks on JD.com, a number that continues to grow. In fact, one of PODG’s employees now has her ebook on sale in China.

“I’m so excited to tap into such a large market and share Every Body Does Yoga with a new audience,” said Lynn Eddy, children’s book author and vice president of Publish on Demand Global. “Although China is a leader in many things, I find it interesting that yoga is only now becoming popular there. I’m truly fortunate that with the help of PODG, I am able to introduce children to yoga at a very elementary level and pique their interest about something very new to them.”
