Proxios Outlines Best Practices for Lowering Storage Costs
Richmond, VA (PRWEB) November 24, 2013 -- Proxios recognizes that not all data requires the same level of storage performance. With storage tiering, different data is assigned to different types of storage media, which reduces overall storage costs.
For example, data typically found in a database is best delivered by storage technology that features rapid disk access times. In contrast, PDF or Microsoft Word document files can be stored on a slower performing disk. By making this distinction, Proxios offers our clients the ability to divide their storage into high speed, high performance data in the virtual machine environment, and lower speed storage, which is adequate for file data.
This creates cost savings in two ways. First, the hardware cost for lower speed storage is less expensive. Secondly, we have implemented a lower cost approach to file backups that utilizes replication technology. This combination reduces storage costs by 33 percent when compared to the high performance storage method commonly used today.
