Group Travel Startup Travefy Places Second at National "Get in the Ring" Business Competition Hosted by the Kauffman Foundation, Beating Out Nearly 300 Other Companies
Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) November 22, 2013 -- Travefy, a startup that solves the coordination headaches of group travel, fought its way to a finish runner-up in Monday’s final round of “Get in the Ring: The American Startup Clash” hosted by The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
Travefy is a web-based travel planner that simplifies group travel. Through Travefy, users can collaborate on trip itineraries, book travel deals, and manage shared group expenses.
Travefy co-founder & CEO, David Chait, verbally sparred with seven other finalists from across the U.S. before a panel of veteran entrepreneurs and expert judges—ultimately taking second place and a $5,000 cash prize.
“It was an honor to compete in “Get in the Ring” and we were thrilled to be named runner-up among such an inspiring field of competitors,” said Chait. He added, “The insightful feedback from the expert judges was invaluable and their vote of confidence in Travefy is humbling.”
Judges for the final round of the U.S. competition included entrepreneur, investor and founder/CEO in the Priceline.com family Jeff Hoffman; global fashion mogul Marc Ecko; serial entrepreneur, investor and author Lisa Gansky; consumer brand "turnaround" CEO Matthew Rubel; and broadcast and digital media guru Denmark West.
"Our judges recognized the business potential of Travefy and commented very favorably on David Chait's pitch content and delivery," said Wendy Guillies, vice president of communications at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. "It's an impressive accomplishment to finish in second place overall from among an original field of 283 U.S. applicants."
