American Teacher Scholarship Contest Continues Through August 1
Indianapolis, Indiana (PRWEB) July 02, 2013 -- Excitement is high as twelve educators rally support from their colleagues and friends in an online contest to win a full tuition scholarship from American College of Education, an accredited online college that provides accessible online degree programs for educators. The contest will continue through August 1, 2013.
Four of the twelve finalists will receive the American Teacher Scholarship. Each educator has created a full profile explaining why he or she deserves to win. Friends, family and co-workers are submitting hundreds of votes to support their favorite educators at the American Teacher Scholarship Facebook page.
Educators pursue Master of Education degrees to enter leadership positions or to improve their practice in the classroom. However, for many educators, rising tuition costs and student loan debt are barriers to graduate education. American College of Education eliminates these barriers for many educators by limiting total program tuition to $7,955 for several regionally and nationally accredited Master of Education programs. The full tuition scholarship will change lives by providing four teachers with the specialized training they need to advance their careers and continue to make a difference in the classroom and their communities.
Finalist Rebecca Hammond of Bush, Louisiana, hopes to earn the scholarship so that she can continue her career in a leadership role. “For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a teacher,” said Hammond. “I worked hard through school and graduated at the top of my class. I have worked with children my entire life and will forever strive to touch the lives of children.”
Many applicants plan to influence their peers as they advance their careers. Finalist Shannon DuPlessis of Vero Beach, Florida, plans to earn a Master of Education in Educational Leadership so that she can lead colleagues to use techniques that helped her improve student achievement. “As an educator, there is no greater gift than being able to walk into a classroom every day knowing that you are inspiring young minds,” said DuPlessis. “As a drop out prevention coordinator and teacher, I have had the distinct privilege to do just that over the past nine years of my career.”

- M.Ed. in Educational Leadership
- M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction (5 subject area concentration options available)
- M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with Specialization in English as a Second Language
- M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with Specialization in Bilingual Education
- M.Ed. in Educational Leadership
- M.Ed. in Educational Technology
- M.Ed. in Elementary Education
