Lightmap’s HDR Light Studio Live for 3ds Max adds support for a host of additional renderers
London, UK (PRWEB UK) 23 July 2013 -- Lightmap announces a major update to the HDR Light Studio Live plug-in for 3ds Max. The 3ds Max Live plug-in now supports Autodesk 3ds Max/3ds Max Design versions 2013 and 2014 and has added support for additional market leading renderers.
Mark Segasby, CEO, Lightmap, says, "We are really pleased to be updating our 3ds Max plug-in, allowing our users the freedom to light with their choice of market leading renderer. 3ds Max artists often use a variety of render engines for their projects and switch between them to exploit the benefits of each. HDRI maps offer a truly portable lighting format that is renderer independent, so lighting created for a mental ray shot can also be used in Thea Render, for example, with predictable results."
NVIDIA mental ray/iray Support:
Autodesk 3ds Max native render engines can now benefit from HDR Light Studio's live HDRI map creation and editing as a new way to light shots. As the HDRI map develops in HDR Light Studio, the lighting and reflections can be seen instantly in the Nitrous viewport which provides a close match to the final mental ray or iray production render.
3ds Max 2014 users can benefit also from enhanced Nitrous viewport performance and enhanced image based lighting in mental ray where users can now light their shots with the new ‘Illumination from IBL’ setting. This new setting produces more accurate and dynamic lighting results compared to using the old final gathering method.
Additional Renderer Support:
HDR Light Studio Live for Autodesk 3ds Max also supports Chaos Group V-Ray, Maxwell Render, Thea Render and Octane Render. Each renderer is able to provide interactive feedback using an ActiveShade rendered view where the user sees the effect of their HDRI map lighting their final shot. Make a change in HDR Light Studio and see the result in the ActiveShade view.
