1SolTech Provides Panels for UT Dallas Solar Car Summer Camp Students
Farmers Branch, Texas (PRWEB) July 08, 2013 -- 1SolTech, a Texas-based solar power manufacturing company, gave a tour of their manufacturing facility and provided panels to high school students from UT Dallas’s Science and Engineering Center (SEEC) Solar Car Summer Camp this past Friday. The students will be utilizing the 1SolTech solar panels on their solar car project where they will create a car that operates on solar energy.
"Building a solar car is a challenging learning experience for our high school students. It makes science, technology, engineering and mathematics into a performance sport. Visiting 1SolTech gave our campers a unique inside look into the making of high quality solar panels, which in turn gave the, a deeper understanding of an innovative industry,” said Kenneth Berry, assistant director of the Science and Engineering Center at UT Dallas and the coordinator of the solar car camp.
A team of about 20 high school students will build a solar-powered car estimated to be completed by July 11th. UT Dallas students in the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science will provide guidance to the students, but the responsibility of the entire assembly and completion of the car falls on the students’ shoulders. The goal is for the car to go through a comprehensive judging process called “scrutineering” on July 11th at the 2013 Solar Car Challenge at the Texas Motor Speedway.
“When it comes to solar education, 1SolTech has made it a habit to give back to the community and to invest in our youth,” said 1SolTech Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, Sandy Fardi. 1SolTech could not be happier to have this type of local involvement in the name of solar.
