Mote House Celebrates Award Winning First Year
(PRWEB UK) 12 July 2013 -- Mote House, the restored centrepiece of the luxury Audley retirement village situated near Bearsted, Kent, celebrated reaching its one year anniversary on 6 July 2013. To mark the occasion the village hosted an exclusive champagne reception and is running a series of open days. The main house was opened in July 2012 by the Mayor of Maidstone and Audley Retirement CEO, Nick Sanderson.
Since its opening, the village as well as the historic Grade-II* listed Mote House have received recognition at a number of prominent awards ceremonies. Most recently Audley Mote House Retirement Village received the prestigious award for Best Apartment at the Evening Standard New Homes Awards 2013, while the restored manor house was runner up in the Best Conversion category.
The village’s bulging trophy cabinet also holds award wins from both housing and healthcare specialists. This includes the coveted Gold award for Best Retirement Development at the What House? Awards ceremony, and the Regeneration – Independent Living Award at the Pinders Healthcare Design Awards 2013. The award wins recognise the high standard of design and operational excellence at the village, as well as the sensitive restoration of the listed mansion, Mote House.
Mote House, the magnificent Georgian building, is home to 14 stylish apartments and the Audley Club, which includes the Romney Restaurant and Bar/Bistro as well as a luxury health club, swimming pool and library. Since opening, the Romney Restaurant’s Sunday lunch has proven to be a big draw for the local community, with the restaurant regularly at full capacity.
Testament to this, the village has had in excess of 1,000 visitors in under a year, while the Audley Club has 80 external members who enjoy everything from Zumba to aqua aerobics. As well as bringing leisure facilities to the local area, Audley Mote House has also created numerous employment opportunities and now has 51 staff.

In total, the village will consist of 100 unique cottages and apartments, many with original period features and are available to purchase for those over 55 wishing to live an independent and healthy life in beautiful surroundings. Membership of the Audley Club is open to non-residents over the age of 55, whilst the Bistro and Romney Restaurant is also open to the public at selective times.
To celebrate the occasion Audley Mote House hosted an exclusive champagne reception for residents and their guests on Friday 5 July. Those interested in visiting the beautiful site are also invited to attend open days after Wednesday 10 July.
