Hal Stewart’s Bronzes: Portraits of the West at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum
Wickenburg, AZ (PRWEB) July 23, 2013 -- Don't miss this great opportunity to view Hal's extraordinary, eclectic works which includes a range of subject matters cast in bronze including cowboys, horses, Native American Indians and animals. Stewart’s work can be found throughout the United States, but luckily some of his best work will be available to view at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum, this summer in Wickenburg!
A winner of numerous awards, Hal's most stunning piece - 'Chasing Star Kachina' - is situated in the permanent art collection of the US government. "My work reflects the lifestyle of the Native Americans, the cowboys and their families, and various animals found in Arizona. Before any sculpture is started, I do extensive research of my subject to assure complete accuracy. I’ve met with tribal officials and ranchers, and visited wildlife sanctuaries to obtain information I need."
A reception will be held on July 27th, and is the perfect day to honor Hal Stewart, for it is National Day of the Cowboy, and Hal doesn’t just talk the talk, he walks the walk - he is a cowboy! As a rancher, he built his own ranch on his 5-acre spread in Apache Junction, Arizona where he had as many as 30 head of horses at one time. Stewart trained and raised show horses for nearly 15 years. He decided to purchase 140 acres in Wilcox, AZ to raise his own alpha. He is recognized from all the years of riding his horses in the prominent Arizona parades. He rode in the first official Fiesta Bowl Parade in the early 70’s, the Scottsdale Parada del Sol, he was Grand Marshall for the Tollisen “Whoopie Days Parade” just to name a few throughout the state of Arizona. He looks at his room filled with trophies and remembers those “good old days”. Stewart says “Back then my life was all about ridin’, ropin’ and living off the land”.
The reception at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum is from 4pm-6pm and will honor Hal's work. Entry to the museum is free on that day. The exhibition runs through October 6th 2013.
If the opportunity to see this exhibition passes you by, then Hal can be found at the Arizona Fine Art Expo early next year -January 16th - March 30th 2014 - where patrons can indulge in a bronze piece purchase for themselves or simply enjoy watching Hal work in his Expo studio.
