ESO Beta Footage Leaked, Reports Elder Scrolls Online Guide
(PRWEB) July 25, 2013 -- Footage of the highly anticipated Elder Scrolls Online Beta was leaked today by one of the participants in the closed event. The video featured a “Let’s Play” style setup as the player and video creator walked through some of the various elements of the ESO game.
Normally this wouldn’t be a big deal, but Zenimax, who is producing the Elder Scrolls Online title, has a strict policy against players leaking footage of the closed beta. In-fact, players who are invited to participate in the event are required to agree to a non-disclosure agreement, preventing them from sharing information or recorded gameplay.
Within hours, Zenimax was able to remove the footage from where it was originally posted, but unfortunately for them with the technology so readily available by everyone to download video from pretty much anywhere, the footage will undoubtedly begin to surface again in many different locations. Players have chimed in on the community forum Reddit, and have already began discussing what they saw in the gameplay, as well as wondering why Zenimax is so strict on this policy.
It is safe to assume the player(s) responsible for leaking the footage will effectively have their closed beta access revoked. Zenimax implemented a watermark for each individual account in the Elder Scrolls Online Beta, which will allow the player to easily be named.
Currently, the presumption is that the player didn’t know that recording and uploading footage of the closed beta was against the rules at all. He or she uploaded the video and then took it down themselves, likely after finding out they probably just lost a very hard to acquire closed beta invitation for ESO.
So far it has been a crazy rollercoaster ride for fans and critics of The Elder Scrolls Online, but the Spring 2014 Release Date continues to draw nearer, and more things are definitely going to unfold. Stay tuned at Elder Scrolls Online Guide for more news, guides and coverage related to ESO.
