Anyone who's ever seen a performance by Ivory Coast superstar Fely Tchaco knows that this is World Music at its vibrant and melodious best. Having chalked up several albums and scores of live shows in the Bay Area since her move here many years ago, this dynamic singer-songwriter, award-winning recording artist, Billboard nominee and former STARS model is now about to turn over a new leaf with the production of San Francisco's first-ever 100% ethnically-inspired runway fashion show, combined with an evening of live entertainment, amazing food, awesome poetry, stand-up comedy, appealing art and spirited dance.
Sponsored by several San Francisco based organizations, including the San Francisco-Abidjan Sister City Executive Committee and the African American Historical & Cultural Society, the Gala Dinner is a benefit fundraising event for AFRICAN ARTS ACADEMY, an education program , which specializes in African inspired arts, dance, crafts, music, fashion, fineries, and more. The ANNINKA dance company of Cote d'Ivoire is partnering with us in support of our Bayview community.
The goal of this unique show is to promote cultural diversity, raise awareness of key roles minority artists play in the United States, and help strengthen their positions in the art industry.
The evening entertainment will feature artists like comedians G. King and Danni Dechi, poets April Martin Chartrand, Abdul Kenyatta, and Brittany Aleyse Donaldson, Antony Mims aka "Blackboy" dance by AANINKA from Cote d'Ivoire, Samba dancer Anat Shemash from Israel. Fashion by Monique Zhang (China), Brandon Young (Hmong), Armstrong Beugre (Cote d'Ivoire), Aline's Closet (Benin), Salma Schempp (Afganisthan) Picky Fashion (Russia). Live Music by Wobbly World and more.
