Author Lisa Masters Shares Breast Restoration Journey Following Cancer
Orlando, Florida (PRWEB) August 08, 2013 -- In 2013, there will be about 232,340 new cases of invasive breast cancer in the United States, according to the American Cancer Society.
Breast cancer can be devastating on many levels. Long-term effects such as permanent breast damage still plague thousands of breast cancer survivors.
For author and breast cancer survivor Lisa Masters, giving up on having breasts was not an option. In Build-a-Boob, her new memoir, she shares the inspirational story of her journey from cancer and pain to healing and regeneration.
“After 15 reconstructive surgeries and numerous difficulties with infection along the way, I have two breasts and a purpose,” said Masters. “I wanted to reach out and break the silence for those who live with the scars that breast cancer has left behind.”
Written from her personal experience as a cancer patient, the book follows Masters through her diagnosis, treatment and reconstruction surgeries. Including 25 photos that span her 15 surgical procedures, Masters hopes that the book helps shed light on the ability to use liposuction to rebuild breasts.
