Mozido’s Successful Delivery of Mobile Transaction Services to Jamaican Credit Unions Slated for U.S. Market
Austin, TX (PRWEB) August 19, 2013 -- The Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union League (JCCUL) has been granted approval by the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) to launch a mobile money platform developed by Mozido, LLC, a leading innovator of white label mobile cloud marketing and payment solutions. The Mozido-powered mobile app will be launched and offered as Jamaica Credit Union E-Payment Services or JCUES. It will be available on August 19th to the over 950,000 JCCUL credit union members for mobile electronic bill payment, balance inquiries and mobile phone top-up with person-to-person money transfers to follow later this year. Of the seven companies that applied for authorization to offer electronic retail payment services from the BOJ, JCCUL is the first and only entity approved to deliver mobile money applications to the credit union market.
Since the 1940’s when credit unions entered the Jamaican market, their charter has been to provide financial services that improve the quality of life of their membership and to foster their economic independence. In the U.S. market, credit unions have similar charters for their members, and Mozido is now working with several U.S. credit union organizations to deliver comparable mobile services. Mozido’s U.S. program for credit unions includes person-to-person (P2P) money transfers using the member’s mobile phone number, on-the-go-bill payment, loyalty and rewards programs, and personalized offers.
In Jamaica, Mozido worked with the leading mobile network operators Digicel and Lime to make the JCUES mobile app, powered by the Mozido mobile cloud platform, available on Android and BlackBerry 6 & 7 smartphones, most feature mobile phones, and accessible via the mobile web. Phase II of the JCUES/Mozido program, which is already in the works, will include expanded bill payment services, international remittance, P2P transfers and merchant offers to bring additional value and improve their members’ purchasing power.
“Mozido’s mobile cloud marketing services and commerce platform will enable JCCUL to offer innovative programs to the Jamaican credit union community and their members. The timing could not be better with mobile phone penetration at 120% in Jamaica,” said Kavin Hewitt, CEO Mozido Jamaica. “This will also serve as a launching pad to expand the partnership to the Caribbean Confederation of Credit Unions.”
The Mozido-enabled mobile services suite includes:
- International and domestic remittances
- Mozido® mWallet™ Funding
- International and Domestic Airtime Minutes Top-Up
- Mobile Bill Bay
- Mobile Remote Deposit and Electronic Document Capture
JCUES is also planning to add Mozido’s mobile marketing and payments capabilities which include:
- Mobile Coupons
- Mobile Loyalty
- Mobile Ordering
- Mobile Payments; mPOS and noPOS
- Mobile Marketing Automation
“We are honored to partner with JCCUL to help Jamaica’s credit unions harness the power of mobile technology to create greater connections with their members through convenient financial and consumer engagement services from any mobile phone at any time. Expanding our services to the Credit Unions throughout the Caribbean and now the U.S. is an exciting opportunity for Mozido,” said Mike Love, President of Mozido.
