Irvine University Community’s “Summer Splash” Renews Community Spirit, Bonds of Friendship Among Neighbors
Irvine, CA (PRWEB) August 21, 2013 -- Residents at the University Community Association celebrated the season recently while rekindling the bonds of community during the University Community Association’s (UCA) inaugural Summer Splash.
More than 300 homeowners, residents, family and friends gathered at the meadow of the UCA’s McGuffey pool on Saturday, July 27 for some old-fashioned summertime fun, food and activities for kids of all ages, including pool games, a bounce house and slide, face painting and balloons.
“This was a tremendous opportunity for UCA residents to get together and celebrate summer,” said Dennis Seid, a member of UCA’s HOA board and co-chair of the event. “Activities around the UC Irvine area tend to slow down during these months so we felt this an ideal time to hold a community-wide event.”
For many residents in attendance, Summer Splash played a more important role.
“It was a great day and did a lot to promote pride and community spirit throughout our Association,” said one UCA resident. “It was so good to get together and get to know our neighbors, both close and further away from our own addresses.”
Along with the games, attendees were treated to hot dogs, chips, popcorn, lemonade, as well as snow cones courtesy of Professional Community Management (PCM), managing agent for the community.
“PCM’s goal is to enhance the quality of life in every community we manage, and UCA in particular is such a wonderful neighborhood with delightful residents,” said PCM’s Sandra Barnes, general manager of UCA. “Toward that end, we were pleased to help facilitate and sponsor an event that fosters community spirit and bonding. Thank you to the volunteers and staff that made this event a success.”
Along with PCM, ten vendors donated gift cards or services for door prizes, including Mission Landscape Maintenance, Artistic Maintenance, Hickey & Petchul, University Park Barber Shop, Mag’s Donuts & Baker, First Team Real Estate, Personal Touch Cleaning, Aquatic Pool Service, plus private donations that included guest passes to exciting local attractions such as the Santa Ana Zoo and Sawdust Art Festival.
UCA residents were so pleased with “Summer Splash” that they’re already looking forward to the next one…or two.
“I think two a year would be perfect,” said John Huber. “Sort of the ‘start of summer and the end of summer.’”
The University Community Association oversees the management of 971 homes, with four community pools and recreation areas including two tennis courts, paddle tennis and a volley ball court. The community is located between University Drive and Interstate 405, just east of Culver Drive.
