Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) August 27, 2013 -- MDI Group (MDI), a leading national IT staffing and recruiting services provider, celebrates 25 years of helping IT organizations tackle “what’s next” in emerging technology projects and challenging business objectives. In a quarter of a century, the company has grown alongside the IT industry, placing more than 10,000 IT professionals with midsized to Fortune 500 organizations across the country.
When MDI’s founder Howard Leff started the Atlanta-based company in August 1988, the personal computer (PC) had just been introduced to the workplace. At the same time, recruiting IT consultants for contract client engagements was a relatively new business practice. The rapid adoption of PCs and computer networks sparked the demand for highly trained and experienced technology professionals, and MDI was quick to identify this new trend.
In 1995, Ella Koscik purchased the company from Leff with a vision of replicating the company’s business model in other local markets. In 1998, MDI opened the first branch office in Greenville, S.C., followed by Phoenix in 2000, Dallas in 2006, Fort Worth in 2008, Charlotte in 2012 and most recently Austin in 2013. With Koscik’s vision and leadership, MDI increased revenue from $10 million to $70 million. Today, MDI’s national footprint includes seven locations in five states, and it currently employs 350 professionals with a target of employing more than 450 by the end of 2013.
The company was founded before the Internet was a household word, so the rapid development of technology has vastly changed MDI’s clients’ needs during the last two and a half decades of business. However, MDI’s singular focus on IT has enabled the company to keep pace with the challenges of understanding and implementing new technologies, such as laptop computers, thin client-server architecture, mobile security systems and cloud based computing models. The company also stayed true to its locally focused business model while outsourcing and placing candidates outside of markets where an agency operated became popular trends.
“Our 25th anniversary is a tremendous milestone, and the experience we’ve gained will propel us forward as MDI continues our growth strategy,” said Richey Brownfield, CEO of MDI. “We plan to expand our business model as the demand for experienced IT professionals continues to reach new all-time highs. With two recently opened Texas offices and a newly formed board of directors, we look forward to helping more IT organizations tackle ‘what’s next’ in the future.”
