Back2Basics Sober Living Residents Return from Cultural Immersion Program
Flagstaff, Arizona (PRWEB) August 29, 2013 -- On July 27th, four of the Back2Basics residents departed for Ixtapa, Mexico with the CEO and founder, Roy DuPrez. DuPrez started the recovery program over 3 years ago, and makes a point of including a trip down to Mexico for the residents several times a year.
"It is a great opportunity for these guys," states DuPrez. "Mexico really exposes the B2B Residents to some of the principal tenants of our program: Outdoor adventure- surfing, 12 step recovery- nightly 12-Step meetings, community service- feeding the community that lives off municipal trash, Spanish class- language immersion. The trip itself is a cultural immersion that provides foreign perspectives of how the rest of the world, not exposed to their iPhones and Facebook, ‘survives’ and lives happily without."
Whether back home in Flagstaff, AZ or in Mexico, the program always incorporates community service involvement, a form of formal curriculum and a type of physical activity. The purpose is to expose the residents to teach residents the skills they need to overcome an obstacle or try something new.
DuPrez already has the next trip to Ixtapa in the works. He plans to take a new group of residents down south in October.
