Since opening subsidiary GMO PAYMENT GATEWAY PTE. LTD. (GMO-PG Singapore) in October 2012, GMO-PG has been developing plans to expand services globally, with a focus on Asia.
The company chose Hong Kong as the location of its first local entity after extensive market research revealed high demand for a service that would enable Japanese ecommerce stores and digital content providers to accept payment in local currencies, using trusted local payment methods while managing transactions in multiple markets from a single user interface.
Following the establishment of this local entity, global payment processing service for ecommerce and digital content providers, GMO-PG Global Payment, will launch October 2013.
GMO-PG plans to expand services by establishing local entities and branches in Southeast Asia including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Taiwan.
