It is official, Britney Spears will take up residency in Las Vegas as she goes for a two-year run of “Britney: A Piece of Me” at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Planet Hollywood is owned by Caesar's Entertainment Corporation, which also owns other big properties on the Las Vegas Strip.
She follows the footsteps of Elton John and Celine Dion who were the latest top singers and celebrities who have taken residence in the Nevada resort city. The singer, famous for her songs “Toxic,” “Baby One More Time” and “Oops! I Did it Again,” hit it big during the 1990s. Her debut album, “Baby One More Time” sold more than 13 million copies, while her second album, “Oops!... I Did it Again” sold upwards with 9 million copies. However, she went through some rough stretches as trouble hounded her, which led to her losing custody of her sons as well as spending time in rehab.
From sources, it was revealed that Britney will be paid $310,000 for each of the 50 shows a year. The two-year deal worth an estimated $15 million per year is a validation that she is back. For “Piece of Me,” she will be performing material from her eighth album, which will be released on December 3rd. A song from the as yet untitled album has been recently released. The single, “Work B*tch” was released ahead of schedule due to leaking online. The prior album, “Femme Fatale” has so far sold close to 800,000 copies, and includes the singles “Hold It Against Me” and “Til The World Ends”.
She has been in training and working out up to five hours a day in preparation for the Planet Hollywood shows. The venue will be the newly reconstructed theater at the resort and casino, which features the world's largest indoor projection theater. Britney's concerts are famous for their cutting-edge effects, and the theater is expected to bring these effects up another notch.
According to the show's official website, Britney's show is not only for die-hard fans, but for all music lovers who have an appreciation for good quality shows with plenty of top-notch pop music. The show is considered as a marriage of “high-end fashion, state of the art technology and slick nightclub panache.”
Britney has also recently been keeping busy. She was a judge in last season's X-Factor. She had to bow out of a second season as judge due to the Planet Hollywood gig. She also recorded a song entitled “Ooh La La” for the “Smurfs 2” soundtrack.
