Launches 8th Annual Travel Video Contest

The enthusiasm of the students is infectious, and we’re prepared this year for another huge jump in the popularity of the contest, as indicated by the number of entries and views.

Envisage International Corporation, the leading international education marketing company serving students and institutions worldwide, is pleased to announce the launch of the 2013 Travel Video Contest. The contest, now in its eighth year, offers students the chance to win a $4,000 grand prize, a Viewer’s Choice Award and other prizes, and is designed to culminate during International Education Week.

Over the past seven years, there have been all kinds of winners—animations, stop motion films, talented performers, and simply compelling stories. “The contest grows in popularity every year, and we never get tired of the stories. The enthusiasm of the students is infectious, and we’re prepared this year for another huge jump in the popularity of the contest, as indicated by the number of entries and views,” commented Keith Clausen, President of Envisage International.

The contest is open to both current and prospective international and study abroad students. Students who are currently studying outside of their home country may use their videos to describe any trip they would like to take. Students who are not currently studying outside of their home country must make their videos about their proposed study abroad. Contestants must be 18 or older and the video entries should be no more than five minutes long.

“Often, students who wish to study abroad are discouraged by the cost. This contest provides students with a unique opportunity to get the funds they need, and encourages them to think in-depth about their reasons for pursuing an international education,” added Mr. Clausen.

In addition to the cash prize, the winner of the contest will receive their own blog on to document his or her trip for the world to see. Past winners’ blogs have provided a compelling opportunity to watch international education unfold through the eyes of these talented storytellers. The blog will start immediately after the winner is announced, and will continue throughout their trip or their education abroad.

The final deadline for video contest submissions is October 23, 2013 and the finalists will be announced the week of October 28, 2013. Winners will be announced on November 15, 2013—the last day of International Education Week.

Originality and interest level in the trip, as well as the creativity and quality of the video, are the main criteria. International Student will choose the finalists from among all of the entries, and the judges choose the winners. The Viewer’s Choice Award winner will be determined by viewer voting, and that winner is also automatically a finalist.
