Sierra College & Continuous Improvement Network Offer Training in Workplace Organization & Visual Controls to Improve Productivity
(PRWEB) September 26, 2013 -- To guide companies in using Workplace Organization and Visual Controls, or 7S methods, to improve productivity, Sierra College Center for Applied Competitive Technologies (CACT) and Continuous Improvement Network (CIN) are offering 7S training on Oct. 8 and 22 in Sacramento. Register at the CIN website. The fee is for $250 for CIN members and $375 for non-CIN members. Training will be held at Rex Moore Electrical Contractors, 6001 Outfall Circle, Sacramento CA 95828.
The 7S principles – sort, set in order, shine, safety, sustainability, standardize and sustain -- organize work areas and make employees more productive because it easier to accomplish tasks.
After a similar 7S training, Sleep Train employees reorganized the distribution center delivery office and gained 98% additional space by applying 7S techniques. Participants from Harris & Bruno reorganized the Research & Development room resulting in a dramatic transformation has motivated other employees to clean up their work areas and to apply to participate on the company 7S team. At Progressive Technology, participants moved equipment closer to the actual work space and eliminated unnecessary items to improve employees’ efficiency.
At the upcoming 7S training, participants will learn methods to systematically make work areas more efficient. Then they will apply 7S tools to a select area at their companies. At the second training session, participants will benefit from hearing the experiences of their peers.
The movement to help Northern California businesses gain a competitive advantage using 7S, lean and other process improvement methods is supported by the Continuous Improvement Network, an association of business leaders committed to learning and sharing continuous improvement methods, and touring facilities to see best practices in process improvement.
