Shipping Containers For Sale Provider, Containers First, Builds Coolest Race And Media Building at Sydney Telstra 500 — In Two Days
Sydney, Australia (PRWEB) July 10, 2013 -- There wasn’t any race but it sure seemed like Containers First should have won first place at the finish line. Sydney’s go-to source for shipping container sales, hire, and modification completed an on-site installation at the Sydney Telstra 500, an annual V8 supercar racing event. Using 12 regular 10-foot steel shipping containers, nine modified 40-foot shipping containers, Containers First, which offers both new and used shipping containers for sale, was able to install the race control and media building in just two short days.
Rick Johnson of Containers First describes some of the tremendous features of the temporarily constructed building: “The installation provided an exceptional view of the pit straight through tinted and double-glazed glass windows with protective awnings, whilst the climate control and sound-dampening materials allowed occupants to supervise and broadcast the three-day event in cool comfort.”
The elevated installation, which the company defines as being “definitely fast,” was also built with air conditioning, allowing those inside — from race officials to broadcast commentators — to stay cool even as the outdoor temperature spiked to 40°C. Meanwhile, the 440-volt/3-phase power delivered sufficient support for all race control and media centre equipment, including the air conditioning unit.
Containers First shares that they used the standard 12 shipping containers as support for the upper level and as secure storage for equipment. The 40-foot shipping containers were then modified to accommodate media personnel in one section and race officials in another section. Containers First made sure the media commentary room was optimised for internal noise control by fully sealing it.
Johnson reports, “The media and control centres complex was located between two grandstands — which took eight weeks to install — to accommodate some of the estimated 170,000 people who attended the event. Because the Homebush race is a temporary circuit, Containers First’s modular installation provided a fast and economical solution for race organisers and the NSW government.”
To address the uneven ground, Containers First used six purpose-built level cradles. Containers First also put in two galvanised stairs that made for safe and easy access to and from the buildings. The container sales, hire, and modification expert additionally ensured further protection against inclement weather by installing roof flashing.
When the Sydney Telstra 500 concluded, Containers First’s three-man crew properly and efficiently disassembled, loaded, and hauled away the impressive, temporary structure. The entire effort took less than a day to finish.
Containers First offers wide ranging inventory on new and used shipping containers. Sydney’s trusted source for shipping containers, which celebrated its 25th year in the industry last year, also does award-winning shipping container modifications. In fact, the company’s most recent modification project garnered an award for The Benevolent Society from the Australian International Design Awards. Containers First converted a 6.5 tonne shipping container into a mobile kitchen, which is considered to be the first of its kind in the country.
Other cutting-edge modification projects the company has done include a diver training tank, a wine cellar, affordable housing, multi-storey office and residence, and military training units.
Johnson remarks, “With a little imagination and the right design and build expertise, used containers can be re-purposed for just about anything, from a multi-story home to a mobile bar. And these amazing transformations can take place at a lower cost and a much quicker pace than most conventional building methods. Plus, you just can’t beat the strength and durability of corrugated steel.”
