Announcement: BluesGuitar.com Releases “Cool Blues Turnaround in the Style of Jimmy Page - Guitar Lesson”
(PRWEB) January 23, 2014 -- The Turnaround is used many styles of music. The Blues Turnaround or V, VI, I (5-4-1) Turnaround came from the Ragtime Blues era. The cadence of the Blues Turnaround is backwards from traditional western music. The job of the Blues Turnaround is to show the listener where the chord progression ends and starts over, it does this by ending on the V (five) of the chord progression making it want to resolve back to the I (one).
Jon demonstrates this classic blues turnaround lick as follows; first finger on the 9th fret of the 2nd string and 4th finger on the 12th fret of the first string, then he plays the open 6th string as a quarter note and then picks the 2nd string, then the first string, and then the 2nd string again as a triplet, 2 & A, then he keeps his 4th finger on the 12th fret of the first string and moves his first finger up one half step to the 10th fret of the 2nd string and again plays the 2nd string, then the first string, and then the 2nd string again as a triplet, 3 & A, and he continues this sequence until he reaches the 12th fret on the 2nd string at which point he plays the first and 2nd strings together as a down stroke, and finally he plays a F9 and slides it down to resolve to a E9.
