Menlo College Earns AACSB Accreditation
Atherton, CA (PRWEB) February 05, 2014 -- AACSB accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education, and has been earned by less than five percent of the world's business schools. Menlo College is proud to be among the elite schools across the globe that has earned AACSB accreditation. Recognition by AACSB is the culmination of a multi-year, rigorous process of internal review and external evaluation.
In 2009, Menlo College Provost and soon-to-be President James Kelly, and the Board of Trustees began the process of applying for accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). AACSB International is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools that offers undergraduate, master's, and doctorate degrees in business and accounting. Kelly emphasized that for “Menlo College to be a destination school for present and future students, accreditation from AACSB was an essential part of our strategic plan.”
The first step towards accreditation was recruiting qualified faculty. Kelly made the recruitment of 17 faculty members his priority and sought “professional educators who were committed to engaging students in the classroom, and who were dedicated to being first-rate scholars in their respective discipline.“
Provost James Woolever guided and assisted the Menlo College faculty during the journey towards accreditation. Dean Dale Hockstra, served as Menlo College’s liaison officer with AACSB.
This week, the College learned that the AACSB Board of Directors ratified the initial accreditation committee’s decision that Menlo College’s School of Business should receive accreditation. President Kelly’s vision for Menlo College has been realized: a globally-recognized business school to serve as a destination college for students.
