Pevco Announced as an Intelligent Hospital™ Sponsor at HIMSS14
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) February 19, 2014 -- Pevco, a U.S. manufacturer focused exclusively on pneumatic tube systems for hospitals, today announced its sponsorship and participation in the Intelligent Hospital™ Pavilion at the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) annual conference & exhibition next week in Orlando.
Pevco’s barcode tracking technology will be seen in action by healthcare decision makers touring the emergency department (ED) and pharmacy in the Intelligent Hospital Pavilion. Created by the not-for-profit RFID in Healthcare Consortium (RHCC), the Intelligent Hospital Pavilion replicates real hospital environments. The Intelligent Hospital’s educational demonstrations deliver a number of compelling use cases by participating vendors that highlight how multiple technologies seamlessly integrate to provide automated solutions.
Pevco’s ED use case will show HIMSS attendees how barcode technology can track blood products and specimens transported via a pneumatic tube system from the ED to the lab, providing a real-time audit trail that includes item, location and timestamp data. Pevco’s pharmacy use case will demonstrate how barcode technology can track pharmaceuticals transported via a pneumatic tube system from the pharmacy to patient care areas, providing the same real-time audit trail.
“To witness first-hand how different technologies from multiple vendors can work together is truly a unique learning experience,” Pevco President Fred Valerino, Jr. said. “Thanks to the Intelligent Hospital, we can proudly feature our technology as part of a larger solution for modern healthcare.”
Scheduled from February 23 – 27 at Orlando’s Orange County Convention Center, HIMSS 2014 will bring together more than 37,000 healthcare IT professionals, clinicians, executives and vendors from around the world who believe better healthcare outcomes can be achieved through the use of advanced information technology.

About The Intelligent Hospital
The Intelligent Hospital™ was created to raise awareness and educate the healthcare industry on the many applications of auto-ID, biometrics, BLE, NFC, RFID, RTLS, sensors, mobile devices and wireless technologies and how these technologies can be integrated within the clinical scenarios of a healthcare facility. Visitors to the Intelligent Hospital Pavilion see first-hand how these technologies are able to deliver real-time data from the patient’s room/bedside to the clinician’s smart mobile devices—providing caregivers real-time visibility of people, assets, and processes. When properly implemented, these technologies can have a tremendous impact on patient safety and on the quality of care delivered, while at the same time reducing operating expenses.
The Intelligent Hospital is a dynamic simulator enabling the visualization of how complex clinical devices can be coupled with layers of inter-connectivity and seamlessly integrated with a variety of complementary technologies and software to deliver critical information to the caregiver via mobile communication devices.
