Boston-based Video Production: 2013 Year in Review
Boston, MA (PRWEB) February 27, 2014 -- Every small business measures success in different ways and for McElroy Films, a Boston-based video production firm, 2013 seemed to be yet another year rife with new clients, events, and projects. The firm increased its staff yet again and moved to a larger studio for the second time in 2 years. McElroy Films also expanded services to include providing SEO (search engine optimization) assistance and expert consulting for businesses looking to expand their social media presence.
“When we are able to expand our staff and services every year, I don’t know if you can keep calling it success,” explained Ben McElroy, owner and executive producer of McElroy Films. “At this point, I call our so-called success ‘normal’.”
A normal year includes the successful launch of the music video ‘At Fenway’ on the opening day of the Red Sox season starring none other than William Shatner at historic Fenway Park. The video, based on the hit single of the same name by local crooner Brian Evans, was scripted, produced, and edited by the McElroy Films’ team and has garnered over 11 million views on YouTube. The video’s April release was preceded by a 30 second trailer that played at every AMC Theater in the world from January through March.
“The success of the ‘At Fenway’ video leaves little doubt that our boutique-style production company can handle any job from an hour long corporate presentation to a huge production,” Ben mused. “It was very rewarding to see the trailer play before every movie on the big screen and watch the YouTube views build up so quickly after the release of the video.”
As in years past, non-profit giants Fenway Health and the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) enlisted the help of McElroy Films to produce their annual video.
Fenway Health, as in years past, needed videos to show at their gala fundraising events, The Men’s Event and the Women’s Dinner Party. The videos helped describe the services and Fenway’s extensive involvement in the LGBT community, encouraging the gala participants to give.
Soon after the success of the event videos, the Fenway Institute, the research arm of Fenway Health, asked McElroy Films to film several conferences throughout the year that focus on the state of the HIV epidemic and AIDS prevention. The conferences were then shared online with medical and sociology students as well as the top HIV scholars in the world.
The CCFA, yet again, needed videos for their Take Steps and Team Challenge programs, the top fundraising programs for the international non-profit. McElroy Films’ videographers were sent to many Take Steps walks across the nation including Washington DC and New York City. The editors at McElroy Films also created a 30 second animated spot for the Take Steps program that aired on national television and in taxicabs in the New York metro area.
As in years past, McElroy Films has been the exclusive video partner for many of the brands represented at Kaz USA in Southborough. Every Honeywell home product, from fans to humidifiers, is provided a detailed video to help clients learn how to clean and install replacement filters on the products. As a result of these ‘How-To’ videos, troubleshooting and customer service calls have declined sharply at Kaz and product satisfaction has risen.
“Video helps illustrate ideas in clear, visual terms far better than written manuals and technical support phone calls,” Ben said. “These videos may be dry, but they serve a vital purpose for Kaz and are definitely worth the investment for any company.”
McElroy Films also produced infomercials in home settings for the Mind + Body Care product line up and the Stinger Bug Zapper collection.
With the shear number of projects coming through the doors, it became clear that the office McElroy Films moved into a short time ago in 2012 was already too small to accommodate the new hires.
“I was a little worried that I had made a mistake choosing an office that couldn’t contain the growing company,” Ben recollected. “Fortunately, a larger unit opened up down the street and now we have room to grow and then some.”
The new studio features an open concept design coupled with new editing suites, 3D theater, and a green screen studio. Ben and the team were able to design the new space from scratch and get every detail right.
“It’s never been so much fun to move into a space.
“Every year since the start of this business, we have grown both in the number of employees and in the number of clients that have trusted us to create videos to promote their products, ideas, and goals,” Ben described. “2013 has been a great year, a ‘normal’ year, and I only see a better times ahead in 2014.”
