IntrinsiQ Launches Updated IntelliDose TxM Tool That Increases Patient Safety and Practice Efficiency
Burlington, Massachusetts (PRWEB) March 10, 2014 -- An AmerisourceBergen company, IntrinsiQ, LLC, today announced key enhancements to IntelliDose TxM that will improve patient safety and increase practice efficiency.
TxM, the Web-based version of IntrinsiQ’s proprietary chemotherapy management tool IntelliDose, provides chemotherapy order management, nurse charting and charge capture as well as the capability to integrate with an electronic health record (EHR) application. Today’s enhancements focus on increasing efficiency and patient safety through complete documentation of the chemotherapy encounter, including detailed, accurate coding. The billing process is faster, saving valuable time for both the chemotherapy nurse and the billing department.
“We recognize how important chemotherapy billing management is in an oncology practice,” said Andrew Scott, director of product management for IntelliDose TxM. “Our users expect TxM to make this as efficient and easy as possible. The addition of a bi-directional interface with the Nucleus Inventory Management system eliminates the need for manual entry of medication orders, preventing input errors and lessening the risk of incorrect dispensing. Once a drug is dispensed, all of the detail of the items dispensed is immediately sent back to TxM and included on the billing encounter. Charges are not forgotten or lost, and the billing department has all of the information they need to begin the billing process.”
The inclusion of the inventory interface completes the automation of the treatment management workflow. In conjunction with the existing modules, practices have everything they need:
• Physicians assign a plan of care in TxM.
• Treatment orders are approved by the physician and are immediately available in the Nucleus.
Inventory Management system for inventory items to be selected and dispensed.
• Details of the dispended medications, including J Codes, NDC codes and wastage amounts, are sent back to TxM and incorporated in the billing encounter.
• Chemotherapy nurses complete their drug administration documentation, which generates nursing notes in eNurse. CPT codes are automatically and accurately calculated and included in the billing encounter.
• Chemotherapy nurses simply need to review the encounter once the patient is discharged and it is ready for billing.
“In an environment where the general requirements for electronic medical records are increasingly cumbersome, having a chemotherapy module that remains focused on the essence of what it takes to deliver complex chemotherapy regimens will be an essential ingredient for a successful oncology practice and is how AmerisourceBergen is shaping healthcare delivery,” said Barry Fortner, PhD, president, ION Solutions.
