These two groups are none other than Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden. The tour will feature complete sets from both legendary groups beginning with a show at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 19th ending with a show at the Hollywood Bowl in Las Angeles, CA on August 25th.
Soundgarden originally formed in Seattle, WA in 1984 by lead singer Chris Cornell, lead guitarist Kim Thayil and bassist Hiro Yamamoto. The group is known as one of the early leaders in the grunge style which was created in Seattle. The group had some success in the early part of their career, but broke out in 1994 when they released Superunknown. This album reached the top of the Billboard 200 album charts in the United States and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America five times for selling more than five million copies.
Their debut single off the album was “Spoonman,” which peaked at No. 3 on the United States Mainstream Rock Tracks. Their most notable release however was “Black Hole Sun.” The song was their first to reach the top of Billboard mainstream rock track charts and is remembered in large part due to the remarkable music video that was released for it. After breaking up in 1997, the group reunited in 2010 and released their sixth studio album in 2012.
In the case of Nine Inch Nails, led by Trent Reznor, the group has released eight studio albums and one live album. Their debut album in 1989, Pretty Hate Machine, saw great success, selling more than three million copies in the United States, peaking at No. 75 on the Billboard 200 charts. Their follow up album wasn’t released for five years and sold more than four million copies. That album was led by the release of “March of the Pigs” and “Closer.” One of their most notable releases came in 1997 with the track, “The Perfect Drug.” The song was released on the soundtrack for Lost Highway and charted in the top 10 around the world.

These two acts will be aided on tour by Death Grips, who will be the opening act on most dates. Before the tour kicks off, Nine Inch Nails will appear on Austin City Limits, while Soundgarden will headline the Sasquatch Festival over the Independence Day weekend.
