ClearSky Technologies Uses Total Traffic Manager Service to Help Regional Operators Quickly Deploy Shared Data Plans
Orlando, FL (PRWEB) March 19, 2014 -- Within a year of launching its Share Everything plan, Verizon reported that one-third of its post-paid subscribers were already on board. The plan’s popularity was no surprise, considering the average subscriber owns three devices—forecasted to reach six by 2015 (Source: Saphos Labs)—and would rather pay for one plan instead of three. But unfortunately, accommodating this need has been a struggle for many regional carriers, as shared data plans often require costly enhancements to their billing systems, which take the better part of a year to design and implement.
“Total Traffic Manager delivers the same advanced functionality as solutions used by top-tier operators, but can be implemented four times faster, for a fraction of the cost, without any upgrade requirements,” said ClearSky CTO Frank Danielson. “TTM monitors and analyzes data traffic in real-time, and can immediately detect any parameter, no matter how specific or complex. For example, if a carrier wanted to rate-limit roaming iPhone users consuming 1GB of data between 1 and 4 p.m. on Saturdays, we can do that with TTM!”
TTM manages shared plans by enforcing data caps, limiting throughput, blocking additional usage via an advisory page, and preventing bill shock by sending notifications when subscribers approach or reach their limit. The managed solution handles the complexity of writing policies, tracking usage, and making enforcement decisions, thereby minimizing the effort required by the operator. TTM can also detect tethering, and enable subscribers to opt-in to a shared data plan that enables them to connect to as many devices as they choose.
