San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) March 25, 2014
Nationally known nonprofit, Soldiers’ Angels, announced today that Lauren Ayube, a Gold Star Wife, is joining Soldiers’ Angels to lead the organization’s Living Legends Team. The mission of the Living Legends team is to provide support and comfort to the families of fallen service members.
In December of 2010, Lauren’s husband, Sergeant James Ayube, was killed in action in Afghanistan. Since his passing, Lauren has earned her degree in Social Work with the hope that she may one day help others who have endured a similar loss.
Soldiers’ Angels President & CEO, Amy Palmer, welcomed her by saying, “Lauren is an amazing Gold Star wife who is passionate about serving others, as she demonstrated by pursuing a degree in social work. Lauren brings a level of knowledge and understanding to the team that none of us could begin to understand.”
Since 2010, Lauren has become very active in providing support for other Gold Star families as they cope with their devastating loss. Led by her expertise, Soldiers’ Angels is now able to further expand their support to the families of the fallen. The organization first provides a handmade memorial gift to the family. After this gift is presented, the families are able to choose the level of future support which they receive from the organization.
The Living Legends Team has received hundreds of letters of thanks from the families they have previously supported and are eager to continue their mission on an even broader spectrum.
