Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act Training Course Now Available from WeComply
Mahwah, New Jersey (PRWEB) April 24, 2014 -- WeComply, Inc., a leader in web-based ethics and compliance training for corporate employees, has announced its Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act (CFPOA) training course. This 40-minute course explains the CFPOA, which was enacted by the Parliament of Canada in 1998 and amended in 2013, in simple, understandable terms.
The CFPOA course begins with an historical background of the Act, followed by discussions on the importance of compliance and the costs of non-compliance. Topics covered in the course include basic principles of the Act, who is covered, who is a “foreign official,” what is “corrupt intent,” monetary payments, gifts, meals and entertainment and travel expenses. The course also covers the actions of agents, red flags, defences, recordkeeping, penalties and what to do if you spot an issue.
“One of the best ways for an organization to stay out of trouble with regard to the CFPOA is to adopt and manage a comprehensive anti-corruption compliance program,” says Steve Perreault, Global Head of eLearning, Thomson Reuters. “This includes training employees to recognize appropriate and inappropriate business practices, maintaining accurate records and providing a mechanism for reporting violations. Our CFPOA training course has been designed to be a key component of such programs.”
