SugaPay, an Antiguan designed alternative payment system powered by Global Processing Centre, Ltd. (GPC), and SugaPay Ltd., located in Antigua, West Indies entered into an agreement in February 2014 with PyxPay, a mobile payment solutions provider, with head office located in Nassau, Bahamas, to work together to integrate the PyxPay Solution to SugaPay’s platform to increase the payment acceptance channels for the upcoming Antigua Sailing Week 2014.
GPC has earlier established processing relationships with Caribbean banks, and introduced a private label payment system under the name SugaPay during the 2013 Caribbean Premiere League (CPL) cricket tournament. It offers cashless payments for both the cardholder and the merchant using web-based and mobile applications.
“Over the past year, GPC has been very aggressive in developing our system to accommodate as many channels for accountholders who wish to make payments through our merchant partners,” says Brian Stuart-Young, Chairman and CEO, of GPC. “With PyxPay’s technology integrated into our payments platform we are able to expand our system and provide more flexibility and convenience to our clients. We are particularly excited to include PyxPay’s technology as we service our partners for the Antigua Sailing Week 2014 in accepting payments from spectators and participants alike,” Stuart-Young added.
Antigua Sailing Week 2014 (http://www.sailingweek.com), is one of the world’s premiere and most celebrated regattas. It caters to local participants from Caribbean nations such as Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Grenada, Puerto Rico, St. Maarten and Trinidad and Tobago, and international participants from 21 different countries such as Argentina, Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, Holland, Ireland, Lithuania, Norway, Russia, Spain, Sweden and the United States. It will be held on April 26 to May 2, 2014.
“It gives us pride to be the mobile platform technology to be utilized by the prestigious Antigua Sailing Week 2014 through SugaPay’s payment system,” Maner Puyawan, CEO of PyxPay said. “Further, we are excited to see SugaPay increase its service provisions and partner merchants in providing their secure electronic financial transaction (EFT) solution.”
GPC and PyxPay, who have entered into an agreement in Q1 2014, are currently completing its final stages of development in the modifications for other auxiliary functions that will be incorporated in enhancing the SugaPay mobile payment offering that will be extended across Antigua and the Caribbean.
